Reaching Underserved Women in Za\u2019atara<\/h2>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In the serene hills of Za\u2019atara, third-year midwifery students from the Tarek Ahmad Juffali Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at Bethlehem University transformed theory into action through a vibrant community outreach event. \u201cThe Midwife: A Hand that Cares, A Heart that Cares More,\u201d was held in partnership with the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, and reached women in one of the most underserved areas of the Bethlehem region.<\/p>\n

As part of Bethlehem University\u2019s enduring mission to empower communities through quality education and compassionate service, this initiative showcased the powerful integration of academic learning and real-world impact. In line with the University\u2019s commitment to service learning, students bridged the gap between the classroom and community by addressing critical women\u2019s health issues with empathy, expertise, and cultural sensitivity.<\/p>\n

The event featured an array of educational and interactive stations designed to meet the unique needs of women across all stages of life\u2014from adolescence to post-menopause. Topics ranged from maternal and newborn care to family planning, nutrition, and safe childbirth in emergency settings. The students also conducted clinical breast exams, explained self-examination techniques, measured BMI, and provided individualized health guidance.<\/p>\n

Each corner of the event reflected the students\u2019 dedication to promoting dignity, health literacy, and practical skills. The Nutrition Corner stood out with a 3D food pyramid model, children\u2019s games, and breastfeeding guidance. In the Breast Health Corner, over 20 women received clinical breast exams and learned essential self-care skills. Meanwhile, the Safe Birth in Emergencies Station equipped women with life-saving knowledge using lifelike demonstrations and shared practical tips through printed materials.   • A Family Planning Corner with interactive games and anonymous Q&A for privacy and comfort.<\/li>\n
  • A Child Rights Corner featuring a performance advocating for education, especially for children in Gaza.<\/li>\n
  • An Early Marriage Station addressing the medical and societal consequences of child marriage.<\/li>\n
  • A Menopause Education Segment promoting awareness of physical and emotional health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
