Learning Through Accompaniment

Students Apply Communication and Media Skills in Service

Students in “Creative Communications and Campaigns” at Bethlehem University recently stepped beyond the classroom and into relationship—with women entrepreneurs whose work reflects resilience, creativity, and hope.

In a gathering shaped by listening and exchange, students met with women connected to Ibtikar, many of whom traveled from refugee camps and rural areas. Each shared her story—of building a business, facing challenges, and striving toward a more stable future. Their work ranged from handmade crafts to hospitality and traditional wedding accessories, each rooted in care and determination.

For the students, this was more than an assignment. It was an invitation to accompany.

Working in small groups, each team is now walking alongside one entrepreneur, listening to her needs and offering practical support through their studies—helping shape branding and visual identity, refining messaging, capturing photography and video, and developing social media strategies to extend each business’s reach.

In these encounters, learning becomes something lived. Students are not only applying their skills, but growing in attentiveness, responsibility, and solidarity.

And in that shared work, something meaningful takes root: the recognition that education, offered in service of others, can help open pathways of opportunity and hope.
