BU Alumnus Achieves Milestone

First Palestinian Ambassador to Armenia

An historic milestone achieved by one of BU’s distinguished alumni, Issa Kassisieh (Class of 1989), who officially presented his credentials as the first-ever Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Armenia.

Ambassador Kassisieh presented his credentials to His Excellency President Vahagn Khachaturyan during an official ceremony in Yerevan, marking a significant step in the diplomatic relations between Palestine and Armenia. This appointment is expected to open a new chapter of strengthened bilateral cooperation.

During the ceremony, discussions highlighted the importance of activating political dialogue and expanding collaboration in key sectors, including culture, education, and healthcare. Both sides emphasized their shared commitment to promoting peace and mutual understanding.

Notably, Ambassador Kassisieh undertakes this new mission while continuing to serve as the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Holy See. His dual representation highlights his distinguished standing and professionalism on the international stage.

Bethlehem University takes immense pride in witnessing a graduate of the Class of 1989 lead such vital diplomatic missions. His achievement reflects the University’s enduring commitment to preparing leaders who represent Palestine with excellence around the world.
