Liebe Freunde,
I estimate I will take between 1.2 and 1.3 million steps to walk the 730 km of the Camino in about 39 days. It’s an enormous undertaking and requires lots of planning and mental, physical, and spiritual preparation. This journey is a pilgrimage of faith and a pilgrimage in solidarity. Jesus calls me (and us) to walk with others (think of the Road to Emmaus) and discover him through conversation, silent moments, and in breaking bread with others. Our Palestinian brother and sisters, and the students of Bethlehem University need to know that we see them, that we understand the injustices, and that we care enough to act.
My action, over 1 million steps, to raise awareness and funds is an invitation for you to do the same. In the next 39 days, what action might you be able to take? Who might you invite to accompany you? All of us need good companions for our journey in life and faith. Please consider being a part of mine and donating to support this cause. Or, create your own action, and invite others to join you.
As the days go by, I will continue to post my stories and pictures from the road. I promise to keep you updated as the journey unfolds. As always, you will be in my prayers.
In Peace,
Br. Peter Bray, FSC
