Say YES to
What Comes Next

This summer, Bethlehem University student Ghassan Johnny Altawil said yes to an extraordinary opportunity: an internship at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., in a country he had never visited.

The Students Building a Future at Home

Ghassan is one of them. He spent a month at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and painted a picture of life as a Palestinian Christian for the Americans he met. Although Washington now feels like a second home to him, he came back more determined to build his future in Bethlehem.

“Surprisingly, visiting the U.S. made me sure that I want to live in Bethlehem,” he said. “Home to me is not just a location. It’s the family and friends I have here.”

Ghassan’s internship was part of the Sir John McGuckin Internship Program, established by the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Your Yes Joins Theirs

Mary said yes to a future she could not see. Ghassan said yes to an opportunity, and returned ready to build his future in Bethlehem.

  • $4,000 helps sustain Bethlehem University’s mission of education and service.
  • $1,000 strengthens the resources students need to learn and grow.
  • $500 helps keep opportunity within reach.

This fall, say yes to what comes next for students like Ghassan.
